The Manual Lug Type Butterfly Valve is designed for reliable on/off flow control in industrial piping systems. As a Manual Lug Type Butterfly Valve Manufacturer in India, ALIS Valves offers valve solutions for industrial applications requiring dependable flow isolation. Its lug-style body allows bolted connections to matching pipeline flanges and can support end-of-line service when specifically rated for that purpose. Operated by a manual lever or gearbox, the Industrial Lug Type Butterfly Valve is commonly used in water treatment, HVAC, chemical processing and general industrial applications.

Product Specifications and Overview

A Manual Lug Type Butterfly Valve controls fluid flow through a pipeline using a rotating disc mounted on a central shaft. Turning the handle or gearbox through approximately 90 degrees opens or closes the valve, providing straightforward manual operation without requiring electricity or compressed air.

The valve body features threaded lugs around its circumference. These lugs allow the valve to be bolted between compatible pipeline flanges. Depending on the valve design and pressure rating, the lug construction may also allow one side of the pipeline to be disconnected while the valve remains secured to the other side.

Manual lug type butterfly valves are used in water distribution, wastewater treatment, cooling systems, HVAC, manufacturing and compatible process applications. The appropriate body material, disc material, seat material and pressure rating should be selected according to the fluid, operating temperature and pipeline requirements.

Frequently Ask Questions

Check the process fluid, line size, operating pressure, temperature, required shut-off performance, flange standard and installation arrangement. Confirm that the valve's pressure-temperature rating and design meet the piping system requirements.
Shut-off service uses the valve to isolate flow, while throttling service uses intermediate disc positions to regulate flow. For continuous flow control, confirm that the valve design, control characteristics and operating conditions are suitable for throttling.
Bolt size, grade, length and tightening procedure depend on the valve design, pipeline flange arrangement and project requirements. Follow the manufacturer's installation instructions and the applicable piping specification to avoid body distortion, flange damage or leakage.
Verify whether the exact valve model is approved for dead-end service, whether a downstream flange is required, and what pressure limits apply in that configuration. Obtain written confirmation from the manufacturer if the service condition is not explicitly covered in the datasheet.
High torque may result from excessive differential pressure, seat compression, incorrect installation, disc interference, contamination, corrosion or worn components. Check the operating conditions and manufacturer's maintenance procedure before increasing the lever force.
Valve sizing should consider the required flow rate, fluid properties, pressure drop and available differential pressure. The pipeline nominal size alone may not determine the correct valve size, particularly for throttling applications.
Possible causes include incorrect flange alignment, uneven bolt tightening, damaged or incompatible seat material, disc interference, contamination on the sealing surface or operation outside the valve's rated limits. Inspect the installation and follow the manufacturer's troubleshooting instructions.
Resilient-seated designs use an elastomeric or polymer seat to provide sealing, while metal-seated designs use metal sealing surfaces. The appropriate design depends on temperature, wear, fluid characteristics, leakage requirements and the manufacturer's rated performance.
Review the required cycle frequency, operating torque, seat wear, shaft and bearing design, fluid conditions and maintenance requirements. Confirm that the valve is rated for the intended duty and obtain service-life information from the manufacturer where necessary.
