ALIS Valves is a Double Flanged Gear Op Butterfly Valve Manufacturer India, offering industrial butterfly valves designed for reliable flow isolation and regulation in pipeline systems. Featuring a robust double flanged body construction and a worm gear operating mechanism, these valves provide secure pipeline connections and controlled quarter-turn operation with reduced manual operating effort.gear-operated mechanism enables smooth disc positioning and convenient valve operation, particularly in larger pipeline installations requiring higher operating torque. These valves are suitable for water treatment plants, chemical processing, power generation, HVAC systems and general industrial applications, depending on the selected body material, seat configuration and operating conditions.

Product Specifications and Overview

The Double Flanged Gear Operated Butterfly Valve is an industrial quarter-turn valve designed for flow isolation and throttling applications in pipeline systems. Its double flanged body construction provides a rigid connection between pipeline flanges, while the gear-operated mechanism allows controlled opening and closing with reduced manual operating effort.

The valve operates through a rotating disc positioned inside the flow passage. A 90-degree rotation of the disc changes the flow condition from fully open to fully closed. The disc position can also be adjusted for flow regulation where the application permits throttling operation.

Design and Construction

The valve consists of a double flanged body, rotating disc, stem or shaft assembly, seat arrangement and manual gear operator. The flanged body is designed to connect with mating pipeline flanges using suitable bolting arrangements. Proper flange alignment and gasket selection are important for achieving a reliable pipeline joint.

Gear Operating Mechanism

The worm gear operator provides mechanical reduction between the handwheel input and valve stem output. This arrangement increases the available output torque and makes valve operation easier, particularly for larger valve sizes or applications with higher operating torque requirements.

The gear operator also enables gradual disc positioning and controlled valve movement. Actual operating torque depends on valve size, differential pressure, seat material, fluid characteristics and operating conditions.

Double Flanged Body Connection

The double flanged configuration provides bolted connections on both sides of the valve. It is commonly selected for pipeline installations requiring a robust flanged connection, easier installation and convenient maintenance access.

The applicable flange drilling, pressure rating, face-to-face dimensions and gasket requirements must be matched with the connected pipeline system.

Disc and Seat Arrangement

The disc controls the flow by rotating within the valve body. Seat material is selected according to the process fluid, operating temperature, pressure and required shut-off performance. Depending on the valve design, different elastomeric or polymer seat materials may be considered.

Frequently Ask Questions

A Double Flanged Gear Operated Butterfly Valve is used for isolating and regulating fluid flow in industrial pipelines. It is commonly installed in water treatment plants, cooling water systems, chemical processing units, power plants and industrial utility pipelines.
A gearbox provides mechanical torque reduction, allowing the operator to open and close the valve with less manual effort. It is particularly useful for larger valve sizes and applications where direct lever operation requires higher operating force.
Yes, it can be used for intermediate disc positioning and flow regulation in suitable applications. However, continuous throttling at high differential pressure may cause excessive velocity, vibration, cavitation or seat damage. The operating conditions should be evaluated during valve selection.
A concentric butterfly valve has a disc and stem arrangement with a common central geometry, generally using a resilient seat for sealing. A double offset butterfly valve incorporates two geometric offsets that reduce seat friction during operation and are suitable for different pressure and service requirements.
Excessive flow velocity can increase hydrodynamic forces, pressure drop, vibration, noise and potential erosion. Valve sizing should consider the process medium, flow rate, pipe diameter, disc position and allowable pressure loss to maintain stable operating conditions.
A double flanged butterfly valve has integral flanges on both sides of its body and is bolted directly to the pipeline flanges. A wafer type butterfly valve is installed between two mating pipeline flanges using suitable bolting arrangements. Double flanged construction is preferred where a bolted flanged connection is required.
The handwheel drives a worm and gear reduction mechanism, which transmits torque to the valve stem. The stem rotates the disc through approximately 90 degrees to achieve fully open or fully closed positions.
The face-to-face dimension determines the installation length between the two pipeline flanges. Correct dimensional selection is essential for pipeline alignment, gasket positioning and avoiding installation stress.
Routine inspection should include checking flange bolting, external leakage, stem sealing, gearbox lubrication, handwheel condition and smooth disc movement. Seat and disc condition should also be inspected during scheduled maintenance. Maintenance frequency depends on operating cycles, fluid characteristics and service severity.
Cavitation occurs when local fluid pressure falls below the liquid's vapour pressure, followed by bubble formation and collapse as pressure recovers. It can cause noise, vibration, disc erosion and seat damage. Engineers should evaluate pressure drop, fluid temperature, vapour pressure and downstream pressure during valve selection.
