Pump Control Valve is an automatic hydraulic control valve designed for installation on the discharge side of pumps to provide controlled pump start-up and shutdown. The valve gradually opens when the pump starts and closes in a controlled manner when the pump stops, helping reduce hydraulic surges, water hammer and sudden changes in pipeline flow. The valve can be operated through a pilot control system and may include adjustable opening and closing speed controls, solenoid control and an integrated check function depending on the design.

Frequently Ask Questions

A Pump Control Valve is an automatic valve installed on the pump discharge line to control the flow during pump start-up and shutdown.
It is generally installed on the discharge side of the pump. Booster pump control-valve designs are specifically intended for pump discharge applications.
The valve gradually closes before the pump stops, reducing the sudden change in flow and helping minimize pressure surge.
Yes. Booster pump control valves are specifically designed for installation on booster-pump discharge lines and controlled pump start/stop operation.
Controlled closing reduces the rate at which flow changes when the pump stops, helping minimize pressure surges and water hammer.
ALIS Valves manufactures and supplies industrial valve solutions in India. For Pump Control Valve supply, the required size, pressure rating, flow rate, pump details and application should be provided for proper valve selection.
It is primarily used to control pump start/stop operation and reduce hydraulic surges and water hammer in the pipeline.
The valve starts opening gradually after the pump starts, allowing the discharge flow and pipeline pressure to increase in a controlled manner.
It is designed to reduce hydraulic surge and water hammer associated with pump start-up and shutdown. The actual level of surge reduction depends on system design, valve sizing, opening/closing times and pipeline conditions.
Slow opening allows the pump discharge flow and pipeline pressure to build gradually instead of creating a sudden change in flow, helping reduce hydraulic shock.
Yes. Pump control valves are used in water pumping and irrigation applications where controlled pump start-up and shutdown are required.
